tDCS is a non-invasive technique that uses low intensity current to modulate neural activity.
Is tDCS safe?
tDCS is generally considered to be safe. Any side effects are mild and tolerable.
What does the sensation feel like?
Sensations such as itching, tingling and hot have been used for describing tDCS.
What are the possible side effects of tDCS?
Redness and itching on the skin where electrodes are placed.
Who should not use tDCS?
If you have skin conditions such as rash and eczema, then tDCS may worsen these conditions.
How long does a tDCS session last?
A typical session last 20 minutes.
What can tDCS be used for?
Studies have demonstrated tDCS to be effective at reducing the symptoms of mental fatigue, improving mental wellness, and improving cognitive and motor functions1-2. Studies are currently ongoing on the effectiveness of tDCS as an intervention for mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, addiction etc3-5.
